You can also connect directly to other Pictbridge compatible printers, and because the camcorder tags each photo you take with information based on Exif 2.2 Print standards, poor lighting and mistakes can be corrected automatically by the printer.

Picture Transfer Protocol (PTP)
No more frustration with hard-to-understand Support CDs or at not being able to download missing drivers. The Optura supports Picture Transfer Protocol (PTP), which enables data communication with a computer without having to install dedicated driver software. Your computer simply accesses the camcorder as if it were an external card reader (available only with computers running Windows XP or Mac OS X version 10.1 or later).
If you have a PictBridge compatible printer, such as a CP-200 or CP-300 Card Photo printer, a Canon Photo Direct Bubble Jet Printer or another manufacturer's printer that supports PictBridge, you can effortlessly connect the camcorder directly to the printer. No need to transfer your images to a computer first.
Exif Print
The camcorders support Exif Print (2.2), a worldwide standard that enhances communication between digital cameras and printers. At the time of shooting, important camcorder settings and scene data are recorded with the image. This information aids the computer and printer in producing realistic and reliable color reproduction. Not happy with your shot? The information can also be used to easily correct poor lighting or mistakes, resulting in photos that are even better than the originals.

Simultaneous Photo Recording
No more fumbling with two different types of digital cameras! The Optura camcorders help keep your options open by allowing you to capture e-mail-ready photos (640x480 pixels) onto the memory card while simultaneously recording video to DV tape.

- Reclaim the night with low-light features
Both the Optura 400 and features new Canon technology designed for improving image quality under low light. With the press of the Night Mode button, the camcorder automatically selects a slow shutter speed and increases the sensitivity of the CCD to brighten the image, while still preserving color.
Two additional low-light settings can be assigned to the Night Mode button -- Super Night Mode and Night++ Mode. When selected, Super Night Mode automatically triggers the white LED Lamp when needed to enhance the subject for shooting. Night++ Mode is used in the toughest lighting situations, keeping the white LED Lamp on all the time.

Now you can shoot video that's ready for streaming over the Internet or for e-mailing. The Motion JPEG Mode records your footage onto the Secure Digital memory card at 320 x 240 resolution, giving you up to 60 minutes of recording time on a 512MB card. You can then quickly and easily transfer your movies to your computer using the USB cable.

For those who like to get hands-on with their shots, the Optura 400 camcorder offers a variety of manual controls. Take three photos with a single press of the shutter (one under-exposed, one normal, and one over-exposed) thanks to the Auto-Exposure Bracketing feature. Fine-tune your focus with the Manual Focusing Ring. For still shots where your subject is not in the center of the frame, choose from three Auto Focus Frames to keep them in sharp focus. Alternately, you can keep things simple by using one of the Pre-programmed Auto Exposure settings, perfect for fast-action, portrait and landscape shots.
Continuous Shooting
Nothing will make you feel more like a pro than the Continuous Shooting function. Take a rapid succession of photos of your fast-moving subject in the blink of an eye. The high-speed mode can capture up to 10 consecutive shots at 3 frames/second and store them automatically on the SD/Multimedia Card, making sure you won't miss a beat.
Manual Audio Control
Typically found only on professional-level camcorders, the Optura 400 allows you to manually adjust the audio level of your videos for recording. And because the camcorders feature a new advanced audio processing technique, you can enjoy cleaner audio than ever before. In addition, an electronic windscreen is now able to remove wind noise without degrading audio quality.

IEEE 1394 DV Terminal
Also known as a Firewire Terminal or iLink, the IEEE 1394 DV Terminal allows you to maintain your high video and audio quality during duplication or editing. In addition, an Analog Line-in/Out with Analog/Digital Converter allows you to easily transform your analog memories into digital, all in real-time.
Network Mode
You can turn your Optura camcorder into a powerful webcam. Both the Optura 400 camcorder features a Network Mode that enables you to remotely control your camcorder through the DV Messenger2 software application. Control the focus and zoom of your camcorder from a computer while streaming the video via its IEEE 1394 terminal.
SD/Multimedia Card
For portable storage versatility, the Optura can accommodate either a Secure Digital (SD) memory card or a MultiMedia card. Store up to 512 MB worth of photos with resolutions up to 1280 x 960.
