The M6 is a mechanical camera, the battery being necessary only to operate its internal light meter and flash sync. Technical gadgetry is purposely limited to those features that truly contribute towards creating a better picture. With the M6, it is always the photographer who controls the medium and not vice versa.
The new M6 TTL features Through-The-Lens flash metering capability and more convenient shutter-speed adjustment. This is the black finish .85x viewfinder model with bright-line frames for 35, 50, 75, 90 and 135mm lenses.

- A high-magnification viewfinder model of the classic M6. For focal lengths of 35mm and longer, this model's enlarged viewfinder image makes focusing and composition easier.
- TTL (Through-The-Lens) flash metering capability with the optional Leica SF20 compact flash unit and other SCA-3000 compatible flash units when combined with an SCA-3501 adapter
- Viewfinder metering indications with LED(Light Emitting Diode) left/right(under/over exposure) arrows as in the previous M6 model but with the addition of a central round LED indicating correct exposure
- A new larger diameter shutter-speed knob with reversed rotation from the previous M6 model. The knob is easier to rotate when looking through the viewfinder and, like the lens aperture ring, now rotates in accordance with the direction indicated by the me
- Large assortment of high performance lenses ranging from 21 to 135mm and speeds as fast as f/1
