Tele converters fit between the camera body and lens to provide a cost-effectivemethod to increase the photographic "reach" of telephoto lenses. Available 1.4x,and 2x factors, the benefit can be determined by multiplying the original focal length by the factor. The maximum aperture of the lens is also multiplied by this factor. For example: a 200mm f/2.8 with 1.4x converter provides a 280mm f/4; a 2x produces a 400mm f/5.6.
