Panasonic 36-Inch Tau™ Series PureFlat™ HDTV-Ready* Television with Precision Picture Processing
Features:
- HDTV/EDTV Display Capability (1080i, 480p)
Experience images with lifelike detail and clarity when viewing HDTV broadcasts (1080i) and progressive scan DVD players (480p). Note: Optional set-top receiver required to view DTV programming. Optional external over-the-air antenna may be required for ATSC reception. If your cable company "passes through" a DTV signal unchanged, an optional HDTV set-top receiver can decode and tune the program. However, standards for cable connectivity have not been finalized. Consequently, this product may not be compatible with your cable system.
- 2-Tuner P-I-P with Split Screen Display
You can view two programs at once by dividing the screen in half down the middle. Each program is shown at full height, with one program on the left side and the other on the right.
- DVI-HDCP Interface
Used by newer HDTV set-top boxes and DVD players, the DVI-HDCP connection allows the transmission of copy-protected digital content to your high definition display with stunning image fidelity and clarity. The DVI/HDTV input terminal complies with the EIA-861 Profiles standard for transmission of uncompressed digital video, including high bandwidth digital content protection. The DVI/HDCP input can be connected to an EIA/CEA 861 compliant consumer electronic device, such as a set top box1 or DVD player equipped with a DVI output connection. It is not intended for use with a personal computer. The DVI/HDCP input is designed for best performance with HDTV signals, such as 1080i or 720p picture signals. The DVI/HDCP input will also accept and display 480i and 480p picture signals.
- Color Temperature Control
Allows you to adjust the white balance toward either blue (cooler) or red (warmer).
- Color Transient Improvement
Minimizes color smear at the edges of onscreen objects to help assure clear, distinct colors.
- Progressive Cinema Scan (3/2 Pulldown)
Achieves exceptionally faithful movie reproduction through a sophisticated analog-to-digital conversion. Movies on film are converted to NTSC interlaced video (480i) for television by a process known as telecine conversion, in which the 24 frame-per-second film is converted to video at 60 fields per second. The fields are then paired to create 30-frame-per-second 480i video. Some of the frames will contain dissimilar pairs of fields derived from two different frames of the original film, which causes artifacts. Our Progressive Cinema Scan circuitry converts 480i video to 480p while restoring the original frames of the film for a more authentic movie reproduction.
- Enhanced Progressive Scan Doubler
Provides even more image enhancement than our previous progressive scan technology by improving the quality of diagonal lines in a moving picture. It displays a full frame of video in 1/60th of a second by de-interlacing the incoming video signal and progressively scanning the image. With it, you generally don't see the horizontal scan lines that can be visible in ordinary television images.
- Geomagnetic Correction
Helps improve overall picture accuracy by minimizing geometric distortion.
- Selectable Digital Velocity Modulated Scan
Advanced circuitry along the neck of the CRT senses transitions from black to white in the video signal. The black and white portions of the signal are sped up and slowed down, respectively, resulting in sharp black-to-white transitions. For a more film-like picture when watching movies, you may want to selectively turn off this circuitry.
- Horizontal and Vertical Edge Correction
Sharpens the edges of objects in the picture. Edge correction works in conjunction with the dynamic sharpness control and velocity modulated scan to help produce clean, crisp television images and reduce the unwanted effects of video noise.
- Motion Adaptive 3D-Y/C Digital Comb Filter
Displays bright colors and action scenes with incredible clarity by minimizing the "color rainbow effect" in closely spaced patterns, compensating for the motion that occurs between fields.
- Video Noise Reduction
Compares the picture signals for individual pixels of two consecutive fields, then removes the noise components that exist in both the luminance and chrominance portions of the signal.
- Lighted Disc Home Theater Remote
This illuminated remote control can be programmed to control many current video and audio devices, such as VCRs, cable TV boxes, DBS receivers, DVD players, stereo receivers, CD players and audiocassette tape decks.
- Channel Labeling with Presets
An ID of one to four characters can be assigned to up to 30 channels. This feature comes in handy when cable systems assign different channel numbers to familiar network stations.
- Video Picture Memory: Standard, Cinema, Vivid
Allows you to preset the television's picture parameters to either Standard, Cinema or Vivid, according to various viewing platforms. For instance, you may choose the Cinema preset parameters for DVD movie viewing. Once a preset is chosen it will remain in effect regardless of which video input is selected.
- Video Input Skip
When using the TV/VIDEO key on the remote to scan through available video and antenna/cable inputs, you can bypass selected inputs to save time. This feature is handy when you want to toggle between two inputs, such as the TV mode and VCR input on televisions with multiple inputs.
- Artificial Intelligence Sound
Controls the sound level to prevent wide variations in volume among different TV channels and types of programming.
- Auto Programmable Scan
Automatically tunes all available channels in your area or cable system into memory, and then lets you add or delete the channels of your choice.
- Channel Banner
Captures information transmitted with each program and places it on-screen in a semi-transparent banner. This information includes TV station identification and the V-chip rating for the program being transmitted.
- V-Chip Program Lockout
The V-Chip allows users to block programming that may be inappropriate for certain viewers. Using program ratings embedded in TV broadcasts, the V-Chip lets parents decide the programming to which their children have access. Blocked program material is accessible only by entering a 4-digit code that parents create.
